Epsom Downs racecourse is famous for offering free public access to the racetrack. However, in recent years large crowds and development at the racetrack have made it essential for racegoers wishing to get a good view of the racing to purchase tickets.

Queen’s Stand

The Queen’s Stand offers the best, and priciest, views of the racing on Epsom Downs. The Queen’s Stand was completed in 1992 and stands directly opposite the finishing post. This Queen’s Stand also offers access to the parade ring and the winner’s enclosure.

The Queen’s Stand offers a wide variety of catering options, ranging from bars to the world famous Blue Riband restaurant. Tickets to the Queen’s Stand start at £85, and availability is limited. Dress code in the Queen’s Stand is formal, with men required to wear black or grey morning dress with a top hat, whilst women are required to wear modest summer dresses with a hat.

The Grandstand is the most popular enclosure at Epsom Downs racecourse, offering excellent views of the finishing straight. The Grandstand offers a wide range of restaurants, bars and betting facilities with ticket prices starting at £35. The terraces offer views of the parade ring.

No dress code is enforced in the Grandstand, with shorts and smart jeans permitted. However Derby Day racegoers tend to dress up for the event, making it advisable to adhere to a formal dress code during the Derby Festival.

Lonsdale Enclosure

The Lonsdale Enclosure offers good views of the racing to Derby Festival patrons on a budget. The enclosure sits opposite the Queen’s Stand, giving clear views of the finishing post. There is no formal seating arrangement and visitors watch the races from the side of the racetrack. Tickets to the Lonsdale Enclosure start at £20.

The Lonsdale Enclosure offers access to fast food outlets and betting outlets. No dress code is enforced in this enclosure.

The Hill

The Hill is an enclosure that preserves the original spirit of Epsom Downs racecourse, offering free access to all racegoers. The enclosure is located on raised ground in the middle of the racecourse, offering panoramic views of the racing. Dozens of food stalls are set up on race days and the area boasts a festive, party atmosphere.

If making use of road transport, be advised that parking for this enclosure will set you back £15 or more.
