Bookmakers like William Hill tend to offer several standard betting options as well as special betting opportunities and odds for specific races situations.

On this page we will focus on the most popular and common Epsom Derby betting options.

· Betting on a winner: The simplest Epsom Derby betting option of all. Simply pick out a horse that you feel can win a race and place your bet. If the horse wins you will be paid out the odds on the horse. Betting on a favourite will usually involve bigger bets, whilst smaller bets on outsiders can sometimes give excellent payouts.

· Betting on a place: If a race appears to have two strong contenders, place betting can be an excellent option. Betting on a place involves betting on a horse coming in either first or second. Many punters bet both ways, putting money on a winner and then using place betting to hedge their bets.

· Betting on a show: Betting on a show is an excellent option for betting on favourites. Favourites often show in races, meaning the will often appear in the top three. Show betting is a less risky form of horseracing betting as it effectively triples your chances of winning with any particular horse. Many punters bet on more than one horse when using this option.

· The Pick Six: The pick six is a favourite amongst experienced punters. This Epsom Derby betting option involves picking the winner of 6 consecutive races (usually the final six). Whoever makes the correct pick is paid out from the pool, however when nobody picks all six the next best estimate is paid out.

· Exacta: This challenging betting option requires punters to pick the horses that will finish first and second in any given race. Not an option to wager large amounts on unless you are a very experienced punter.

· Trifecta: The trifecta is an Epsom Derby betting option that requires punters to pick the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed horses in a given race. A tough option that pays excellent dividends when you land it.
